Who Ty is
Ty McMillan is a B3 BFR certified personal trainer and coach and a CrossFit Level 1 (CF-L1) certified trainer, based in Midway, Utah.
Ty has worked as a trainer and coach since February 2020. In his own words, the goal has always been the same: helping others reach their potential through personal training and well-being. He also documents his own training openly, under the name Dad Bod WOD, as a real-life look at staying consistent when life is full.
Why fitness matters to a dad and business owner
Ty is a dad, the founder of RingForeman and the owner of Charleston Bench Advisory LLC. Days like that leave little spare time, and that is exactly why training matters to him. A workout is the one block of the day that is fully his. It builds the energy and focus he brings home to his family and into his work, and it shows that you don't need a perfect schedule to keep showing up.
That's the spirit of Dad Bod WOD. "WOD" is the CrossFit term for workout of the day, and the journey is about honest, steady progress rather than perfection.
What BFR training is

Blood flow restriction (BFR) training uses specially designed cuffs or bands worn around the upper arms or upper legs during exercise. The cuffs partly limit blood flow out of the working muscles, which lets people train with much lighter weights than usual. It has a long history in rehab and sports settings, and it is commonly taught through certification programs such as B3 so trainers learn how to apply it properly. As with any training method, it should be done with guidance from a qualified professional, and anyone with health concerns should check with their doctor first.
Ty trains with B3 bands himself. Train with B3 bands through Ty's B3 coach page, or read more on his BFR training page.
